K7 front sprocket torque spec?
« on: July 20, 2022, 09:39:26 AM »
Does anyone know the torque spec for the single bolt on the front sprocket on a K7? It doesn't have the two smaller bolts on the sprocket like earlier models have. I keep seeing references to http://www.salocal.com/sohc/tech/torquetable.htm, but that site no longer exists, and the Wayback Machine didn't pick up a copy. Thanks!

It's tough to torque as any sizeable wrench is gonna turn the engine over.  Several ugga dugga's from a battery impact has worked well for me in the past.  Probably gonna want some blue loctite on there too.
If it works good, it looks good...

That's weird: I didn't know the K7 has a 'flywheel'.

Lots of guys would remove the flywheel (or cut down) on racing bikes to enhance engine acceleration and run a total loss electrical system. Made a noticeable improvement removing all that flywheel inertia. The only concern was that the oil hole needed blocking on the crank.

Thanks all! Doesn't 13-15.9 ft lbs. seem way too low? I'm sure I overdid it by using a battery impact, but since I added blue loctite, already put the transmission cover back on, and filled with oil, I figured I should leave it and not add more stress to the bolt by loosening it - or is that dumb thinking? Maybe I'm just lying to myself! :D

It doesn't get any real load on the bolt, it just clamps the washer on so the sprocket cant slide off the end. The sprocket isn't held tight by the bolt.
There's a bit on the inside of the cover that will contact the bolt if it does come loose, which also winds it back in when it touches. Better to come loose than pop the head off the bolt, sprocket can't get off the shaft until the bolt is gone. Bolt can't screw far enough out with the cover on.

 ???
It's way down in the PTO and Accessory section, It's recommended to be used with both the Hay Baler or Rock Crusher Attachments.
Maybe it's just in the Australian  K7 supplement.
