Pops Yoshimura cb750 kit?
« on: July 12, 2022, 05:15:20 PM »
Anyone know anything about this?  The person said it’s a “1of1” Pops Yoshimura built tank and seat made for a cb750. So far it almost fits the 550 but it hits the coils and the tank front mount pegs are too long for it. It looks cool but my butt definitely does not fit in there with the seat in.

I cut the tank mounts down on a 550 to fit a 750 tank securely, cut the rubbers in half too, had to to do a custom attachment at the rear. What is the capacity of the tank, is it lined?

Unknown. It’s full fiberglass and appears hand built.

If it is laid up using polyester resins instead of a fuel resistant epoxy resin it will breakdown and leak. Lining it with a Caswell's epoxy liner if it completely seals the inside will prevent this...
Just a thought.

Lots of tanks used to be made with materials that do not hold up to modern gasolines...

Thanks for the info. I was kinda hoping someone would know something about the kit itself tho

I have a 750 fiber glass tank for drag racing, NOS, it needs to be lined the same way before its actually used.

There is way more 'hand made by Pops' stuff out there than he actually made. What you were told is a cool story, but unless they can produce pictures, invoices, something that ties him or his company to it that is just a custom made body kit that may or may not be for a SOHC 750.

Rollypoli,

Text me a few more photos of the tank and seat if possible.  A side profile shot of the right hand side of the bike would be most useful.  I have some Yoshimura history collected and I may be able to help you.

Is the tank and seat yours?  Or something you are looking to purchase?
