I think I may have found it. The rocker arm on the side of the noise has a huge dent and crease on it! Maybe that's what did it?

What did that cam lobe look like?

And they share(CB500) the same problems you have now. Get for the newer cover. They are hard to find.
There was a service kit issued at the time,  12300-390-305. But include only the rocker cover and the pinned rocker shafts. Picked up one a few years ago from DSS.

Gotcha, well I did find a 1977 CB 500 head with the 4 shafts. It's on its way, and I do truly appreciate the help that you all gave! I'll be back if that's not the issue I suppose😅

There was never a 77 500 in the US. There was a 500 K3 model in Europe but not many of them

All 500/550 will fit, only thre K3 model had the mod from the factory
My CB500K2 (ED, F, G) aka K2 GENERAL EXPORT (CMSNL) had the mod. There's only one way to find out yours has: write down your serial engine number and consult that particular page (Camshaft - Valve) in the appropiate parts list.

I managed to acquire one but after removing the nut the valve axel holder screw wont come loose. Is it supposed to just drop out? Or is it a screw?

Not sure why you need to take it apart, but it’s a tapered body pin that wedges in place.  I gave up trying to get one out, as the rockers were good.  Possibly heat the aluminum alloy cover and stack some nuts to protect threads on the taper pin and whack it with nylon or brass hammer.

Wound be a shame if the whacks caused damage to the cover, though.
