Stock 069A Carb settings? (I know, ANOTHER carb question)
« on: September 14, 2022, 07:16:14 PM »
I have a 76 CB550F with stock everything. It is running a 069A (stock carb) with 4 into 1 exhaust (stock exhaust.) I know that I need a 98 main and a 38 slow. The only thing I'm not positive about is the E-clip position for the needle. I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be located in the second slot from the top (which is where it is now) but before I go through all the work of reassembling everything, I want to make sure it is correct and stock.
Sorry I'm sure that this question has been covered a number of times but after spending 2 hours pouring through posts, I'm hoping someone just knows. And everyone refers to the same image. but the needle position is a little ambiguous. I see a -3 and a -2 and I don't know what the stock setting is.

I am hoping that the needle is stock, too. I know having an aftermarket one can lead to problems. I bought a rebuild kit but am only using the rubber gaskets out of it. Does anyone know if there are any markings on the OEM stock needles?
And how do people get the emulsion tube out of the carb without damaging it?

The scheme below has not yet been disputed since I've it put together many years ago.

yes, 2nd position from top is correct for the clip.
what's the problem with getting out your emulsion tubes? they're just pushed in. they're soft brass, be gentle. if they are stuck tight, pushing them from the top (slide side) may be safer.
