I think I will clean up the Kerker and sell it. The Kerker has a dent just behind the collector, a couple of dings and a flat spot on the bottom of one of the pipes. The chrome has seen better days but the system is still solid. We're going to put a Delkevik exhaust on it.

I've been busy cleaning up the bike and especially the motor. It had four decades of oil and road grit encrusted on it.

Yesterday we got the front brake caliper pistons out. They both have small damage to them so they have to be replaced along with the rear brake caliper piston. I need to mount the new handlebars so we can measure for new shorter upper front brake line and get the lines ordered. Need to order steering head bearings too.
We also pulled out the original wheel bearings and replaced them. The wheels got dropped off for the new tires yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday we decided to pull the motor to blast and paint the frame. There's just too many scratches and rusty spots to look past. We're almost ready, just need to pull the coils and a couple of little things.

The motor is out and on the stand. I just finished the third major cleaning on the motor and now it looks like it is made from aluminum not 45yo baked on grease and oil. It should take at least 3 or 4 cleanings to get it good enough. Waiting for blast media to get the frame done and start sanding all the rest of the of the parts that we did in the blast cabinet.

It's a good design but they sell frame bracing kits for them. The front half of the frame is very similar to the front half of my 94' Kawasaki ZG 1000 Concours. It thinks it's a Ninja on curvy roads. 8)

Last weekend we got the frame sanded cleaned and painted. Over the week I got some of the small parts painted. Today I sandblasted a 1969 Honda CB 750 frame for a friend of Paul's.

We finally tracked down a new centerstand. This model came with the mounts on the frame for it but no centerstand. Every place we checked was out of stock and then last week I found a place that said they had one. It is a repop so it's not perfect. The bores on the stand are too big so we had to shim them with .012" aluminum strips so it doesn't rattle while riding. Tomorrow we'll put the frame on the motor and set it up on the lift table for assembly.

Back in the day, the first thing ya did after installing a decent header was ditch the centerstand. Now its the first thing I look for when buying an old bike and trying to find a replacement is next to impossible. There's gotta be a centerstand graveyard out there somewhere.
Start with the end in mind...

Today we put the frame on the motor and set it up on the centerstand on the lift table. There was a huge windstorm and the power was out so we had to open up all of the big roll-up doors so we could see.

I cleaned it out really well. It has dual needle bearings on each side. Everything looks good so I repacked the bearings and it's going back on with a Craigslist rebuild. 8)

That's pretty generous to call a clean and repack of bearings a rebuild, most don't come close to that in their rebuilds...
More like wipe off any visible old grease and swipe a thin layer of new grease on that area to give it the appearance of being redone...
Typical Craig's list rebuild imho
