Just missed it...
« on: July 28, 2022, 08:37:53 AM »
As you recall I sold 6 750's a couple years ago to buy a 70 Chevelle SS396. I did keep the K3 and KO. I missed my sunflake orange so much I decided to have some extra tins painted and will swap those onto my K3 which is currently the OE green. I probably wouldn't have done it if I had to mess with the bucket, but since those buckets are black it will be an easy switch. I got the covers back and have the badges on and they look fantastic. Tank should be ready any day. My painter does not use decals and is painting all the stripping on it. He has my green tank right now for reference. You may notice on the last pic there is a mailbox in back. My painter liked the color so much he painted his mailbox too.

I had given him a House of Color reference on the color which came off this board a number of years ago. He did a couple spray outs until he got it to match an extra cover I had here which was not faded. Very pleased with it. Hope the tank graphics turn out this good too. He did my KO ruby red like 10 years ago and did the gold stripe also. Cleared over it all and another excellent job. The only thing is that he's so busy it's been over a year since I brought the stuff into him. However, I knew it may be a while as I get a nice discount by letting him work on it when he has time.

Thanks for the comments on the 396 and KO. Reliving my youth I guess. It sure clears the head to get a ride in or attend a show. Maui the garage floor gets a lot of comments from visitors. That I had done by the pros when I built the shop. I would not have been able to do it that nice. The secret is to grind the concrete down so the product has a good bite. I tried the "do it yourself" method from Menards on the 2 car garage floor and it doesn't last.

This is the car he bought at auction w/o realizing it was in Canada!  I helped import and ship it to TX, it is finally now titled and registered.

My garage floor gets a lot of abuse, when I do woodwork there is always some glue or other liquid that gets spilled.
I gave up, I vacuum it, hose it sometimes and generally just keep it clear of junk.

I spent several of the great years of my life in a 68' Chevelle Malibu that said 307ci on the fender but was actually a big block making 450hp with a B&M manual shift body Turbo 400. The late 70's were a lot of fun. 8)

They look great and with the correct black bottom tab on the left side.  So often missed.

Prospect or anybody else that knows,

Why is the bottom tab painted black?

I think Honda wanted to keep the straight line at the bottom of the cover. Didn't want to highlight the tab so kept it black.

That car definitely surprised a lot of over confident guys. The car was bought new by my buddy's grandma and looked like she still owned it. We made it as quiet as we could with big Cadillac mufflers and you could barely hear it. The cops used to drive right past us looking for the loud jacked up hotrods. 8)
