1973 CB500K2 clutch adjuster is seized
« on: July 31, 2022, 02:45:49 AM »
My clutch adjuster is seized.

I have removed the left-side engine cover (see photo), I can't tap the adjuster through the case to remove it. Penetrating oil does not seem to help.

I know that part is hard to find, so am trying not to do any damage, am I missing something? Or any tricks to get it free?

There is a seal on the inside, then use a piece of hardwood dowel on the adjuster and hit that

Dawn dish soap (the original) will loosen up caked and dried up grease. So if it's old grease gluing it in place give it a good soak. It surprisinglyworks better than most other products. Mix about 50/50with water.

if you can't knock it free with bryan's method, soak for a longer period (over night, 1 day...) with a 1:1 mix of acetone and atf.

Thanks (all) -- here is what worked: overnight with lots of blaster oil, put in freezer for 1 hour (probably did nothing), then tap out using same-size socket against face of part (kind of like pressing in a seal).
