Rebuild Question - Do I need to order OEM washer seals ?
« on: July 31, 2022, 03:16:03 PM »
Hello everyone,

I recently started my first ever motorcycle rebuild on a CB 400f (1975). I ordered a gasket kit and will be replacing the gaskets, o rings, and cylinder rings. One item I cam across are the seal washers (part # 90442-377-000) that go on the bottom of the special nut ( part # 90237-333-000). They appear to be a kind of rubber washer with a copper metal inner. They seem a little rough and I'd like to replace them but I don't really want to wait weeks for the part to ship in to install it. Does any one have any advice on how necessary it is to get the exact same washer? Are there alternatives? Or is it not that critical to have a brand new one in there?

I have essentially the same question in regards to the copper washers and nuts that are used on the head bolts as well.

Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Not replacing them gives a common oil leak and they are still available from honda, just had two for a build i am doing
