Yes, I live in the home of the football HOF, but have zero interest in football. My name is Eric, I'm knocking on 47 y.o.
I picked up a '76 CB750A from my FIL, who hadn't been able to ride it. Last time it was registered was '05!
It started out as just get it running, but as with everything mechanical I am starting to fall in love with it.
I cleaned the tank, rebuilt the carbs & accel pump, replaced the intake boots and clamps, rebuilt the caliper and MC, cleaned the coil grounds, re-terminated the plug wires, cleaned and set the points, adjusted the static timing, etc. I have been getting parts from Parts 'n More, (found via this forum) I have been happy with everything.
I planned on selling it. There seems to be a notion that I will get killed on a motorcycle. I'm pretty sure I have my wife convinced to at least let me get a helmet, register it for a year, and go from there.
I have never had, or even ridden a street bike before. However I spent many years riding dirt bikes, but that's been 25 years or so.
So that's some of the story! The bike is really nice to ride (although I have nothing to compare it to). Probably could use a carb sync, but pretty darn smooth!
Thanks for all the info here on the forum.
Edit: added a pic of the bike, it didn't attach the first time.
I had it out last night, its running really well as a whole. At cruising speed it feels like it might be cutting in and out, like a surge OR it could just be wind gust resistance, I haven't figured it out. Had a good time though!
