Brake(s) Question(s)
« on: December 25, 2022, 09:19:08 AM »
1978 CB750F. Since having owned it, the rear brake sticks in cold weather. I'm sick of it, and plan to rebuild the caliper with a new piston, pads and seals. First question is; Are the front and rear pads the same? I believe they are, but not 100% certain. Second question is; Are the front and rear pads held in with a pin system? Any assistance is appreciated. Merry Christmas!!!!

Just take it apart, clean all the parts thoroughly, especially the groove the seals sit in, then assess if all the parts are re-useable.

+1...they most likely really dont need a "rebuild" just a very good cleaning and a new seal

Front and rear are the same.

I took my 76F brake Caliper apart, cleaned it put in new seals and it still dragged a little, I cleaned the Master cylinder reservoir out again and bled it a few times, apparently the gunk flushed out and it works great now.
I think the 78F caliper is a single piston and is easier to clean.  EBC pads are listed as FA31 front and rear for organic. FA31V I think for semi sintered.
