If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Those covers are easy to crack.
The rubber grommets, cover tabs need to be lubricated for easier cover on-off.

LPM in UK make excellant repos, Dave Silver sells them, they are a more modern flexible plastic and unless you are lucky enough to find a correct colour one you are going to have to have them painted anyway
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

I will glue this one and see how it looks, but bottom line I’m gonna have to replace it. The motorcycle is too pristine to have a busted side cover.  Foolishly, I had the cover on the bike for some crazy reason while doing the carburetors.

Soooo, it’s been a while since an update on this one. Summer got in the way and some health issues have surfaced, but this bike calls for me. I am responding - slowly.

Turns out the carbs leaked like a sieve. That bummed me out a bit because I had them off once before and they looked shipshape - as noted above. Got them off again and found everything still looked ship shape but two of the four leaked – floatbowls overflowing. I hemmed and hawed over them for a week or so and finally concluded that the needles were not seating properly. Ordered new K&L needles and seats and that solved the problem.

They’re back on the bike and I’m ready to ignite it. Maybe today!

Well this has slipped by a while.....
Did you get it fired up? Did you get the side cover glued up?
You doing OK?
I know it's the summer heat there now and you probably aren't out in your shop unless the monsoon season has cooled you down there.

We've been having a lot of high heat here in NH this summer,  we even hit 100 with high humidity, lots of mid to high 90s. Tonight is bike night and we are only going to be in the 79 degrees area so that will be a welcome reprieve. (I lived in Vegas and understand the desert heat....)
I changed my handlebars a month ago from the 10" bars that have been on it from 1976, to 2" euro bars. Yes it was a pain the heat up and pull out the wiring.  I bought some heat shrink tubing and replaced the old hardened sheaths before pulling the wires into the new bars. The stance of the new bars is not too bad on my broken back. I put on 2 150-200 miles days on it 2 weekends ago.
I hope you are doing well.

Do you need an oil cooler for it? I have an extra I could let go of.
