1973 CB500K2 clutch sticking

I replaced my clutch cable, and cleaned and re-greased everything under the left side cover. I adjusted the lifter, and it feels like the lever is working the clutch springs, but the clutch is sticking. Any idea why that might happen? The bike has not been ridden much but the clutch worked okay before the adjustment. I definitely have the ball bearing where it belongs.

By what? Honda had two types, for the US and the Euro handlebars. Could you have bought the wrong one?

Turns out it just needs a good nudge in gear, not running.

What do you mean? Are you trying to move the rear wheel (on the stand, in gear and while holding the clutch) to see if its loose?
