Chain Guard for K0-K1 CB750
« on: August 18, 2022, 04:51:08 AM »
I am currently working on a 1971 CB750 K1 project and this is my third K1 750.  It is difficult to find this item on eBay, but you can get a new one if you are willing to pay the price.  I just ordered one from https://www.yamiya750.com/ and it cost me about $250.00 after shipping.  I have ordered from him in the past and all of his parts are top quality.  Just wanted to let others know that this item is available.

Been hunting for one and will probably have to bite the bullet and get one from them or CMS.

There are places that have em for about 90 bucks (DSS) but they are all out of stock.

The K1 chain guard is different than the K0 one.  The K1 chain guard has not been reproduced as far as I know.

Scott- I am pretty sure the K0 and K1 are the same.   About a year ago, I purchased the "K0" style from Yamiya and it fit perfectly on a K1.  He advertises it fits both a K0 and a K1.

While the mounts and spacing are the same between the K0 and the K1 the chainguards are different.  The K0 guard is shorter while the K1 is longer and extends well last the sprocket.  Both are plastic ABS but different.  Here is my K1.  Notice the length of the chaiguard.  Compare this to a picture of a K0.

K0 had both a short and then long chain guard.

1021879 seems to be the cut off for a short chain guard.

Unless the one on the K1 is even longer than the long one on a K0.

My old Honda dealer that lives near me said Honda went to the longer chain guard on the KO's when people started complaining about the oil slinging off the back of the chain and making a mess. Then people got wise and turned off that chain oiler.

That green is really beautiful!
If my bikes should have a wardobe with different clothings to switch between for different occasions,  that green tank with side covers should be there.

The code is simple ;D

I picked up a nice original K1 chain guard a few years back but haven't put it on. I was concerned since they're unobtainium I'll damage this one. Maybe I'll put it on now that they're being made, or just let it set on the shelf to go with the bike when I'm gone.

Your bike is very nice.  Here are my two restored K1s.  The gold one has the short and the copper has the long chain guard.
