CB750K2 replacing wire harness - coil connector differences!
« on: September 03, 2022, 08:36:43 AM »
In process of replacing the wire harness (Yamiya replacement) on my CB750K2 - all going well until I come to hooking to the Dyna S to the black/white connector which also attach the coils.

Previous wire harness had 4 connections:

Where 2 connections taken up by each black/white coil wire leaving one for Dyna S power wire.

New harness has a 3-way connector only

No room for Dyna S.

What to do? I am not an electrical genius….

Thanks
Andy

I had it connected to the 4-way black/white on the previous harness. I could hook it up to black but I thought it had to go through the coils?

Ok so all lights/horn work as well as gauge lights and idiot lights so that’s all good. Press starter button and it sounds normal - good healthy attempt at start but it’s not firing up. Gas is on :).

I plugged the Dyna S into the 4-way black connector.

Any thoughts?

Ok it fires up and runs but…I went back to how I had wires before…

In headlight shell:
Black/white (handlebar switch) goes to black (handlebar)

Black/white harness goes to black connector

Maybe it’s because I have later handlebar controls?

Anyway it runs is there and risk of crossing these wires?

Thats not correct by hond colours
Black should be power into kill switch
Black/White is power out of kill switch to coils

Black/white is coil power with its origin from ignition key switch.  Kill switch on handle bar is included in the route, which is connected in headlight bucket.

Each coil need a wire from that. It does not matter which screw connection on Dyna coil.

Blue to the other screw connector on coil for 1:4.
I have that coil on left side.

Yellow to coil for 2:3.
Both my CB750 have an extension wire from black/white to left side cover where I have located a relay which it will turn on.

From relay thicker wire feeding coils. Power direct from battery via a hanging 10A fuse.
