Rear Suspension?
« on: September 19, 2022, 04:54:33 pm »
Since I have upgraded front end.
I might as well do something trick w/rear shocks.
I have Marz shocks that are rebuilt.

I would like to move the upper shock mount a few inches.
A little extra rear wheel travel would be nice.
Has anyone done this>
I know heavier springs and possible revalving will be necessary.

Any help out there?  lol

I'd just find a longer shock. The mount there is well gusseted to handle the load.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

That won't get me more travel.
I'm guessing the forks have 5.5 in and the rear about 3.5 in.
I would like 5.5 in the rear if that is possible?
Not sure if there is enough clearance?

Where the frame meets the loop is a strong point.
That should give me the extra travel I want?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Actually where the frame meets the hoop is not as strong as where the mounts are stock as you are adding extra forces reward. So if you do that be sure to add frame strengthening gussets to handle the added forces.

I had my frame break back there, on my K6 that I had built a box to carry my hound(part golden lab), and had strapped my gear to adding more weight in my cross country trips in the late 70s. I had to get added gussets to both sides welded on(1" or 1.5" angle iron) to repair it while on the far side of the country.

cant you get a lowering kit so the shocks lay down more and you achieve more travel, right?

Combo a longer shock with lowering brackets to maintain seat level is thats important.
