Axel Collar - Part Number 42620-ME1-405
« on: September 19, 2022, 08:54:55 PM »
Anyone have absolutely any idea where I can get one of these? I've scoured the web. I really only need the 2 metal collar pieces, but it doesn't seem to be a separate part to be able to purchase. I'm at a loss here...
Thankful for everyone on this forum. Grateful to continue to learn so much.

I also posted about this a few years ago and could not find it anywhere. Got lucky in the end and found NOS on ebay that was titled incorrectly but was what I needed.

you could check for aftermarket ones like yamiya has, but unfortunately it seems theyre sold out as well...

Its just a bearing spacer.  I made one for the sidecar.  It is a piece of tube/pipe - those two end pieces help to keep it centered for assembly.

First off, even in your frustration mode, when asking for help like this looking for a specific part, include what your bike is specifically,  I'm having to ASSUME (A Very bad thing), by using the bike listed in your signature is your Only bike.....?????? Some people on this forum have multiple bikes of multiple years and models.....

Based on your signature listing of a 77K and your part number and #12 in the picture,  the part number you listed in the title is a supersede of 42620-300-010, which searching the parts fiches, is the same on all K models, K0-K8 and A models, 1976-1977(with spoke wheel).
So, according to the parts fiches, you can get the collar spacer from any of those wheels by taking one apart.
You should be able to find a wheel locally(get one that the axle slides out easily!), to get the collar out yourself.
I have extra wheels but the time to remove the collar will be costly (for my time to remove and ship the collar). If I had one out and loose I'd send it to you for postage but I don't.

Note: all Super Sport, F models are different part numbers so don't bother trying them.

I’ll check this morning, sure I have a few. I’m in Ontario, Canada. Shouldn’t take long by snail mail.

P.S. Just reread your post. If you collar is missing the “ears” just use it. The only purpose they serve is to keep the thing centred in the bore and make inserting the axle bolt a little easier.

I have one. About 750mm O.A. length. Want it? Like I already said, if yours is just missing the ears, you can still use it. Just line it up with a screwdriver, before you try and slip the axle in.....

Yeah, I had already checked all my normal places online.

Its just a bearing spacer.  I made one for the sidecar.  It is a piece of tube/pipe - those two end pieces help to keep it centered for assembly.

So I have the tube and I even have the "ears", but my 'ears' are mangled beyond recognition.

Anyone have absolutely any idea where I can get one of these? I've scoured the web. I really only need the 2 metal collar pieces, but it doesn't seem to be a separate part to be able to purchase. I'm at a loss here...

I wasn't even thinking, sorry about that!!! I'm normally pretty good at remembering!
If my wheel hadn't been absolutely the worst stuck I'll probably ever encounter, then I wouldn't be having to search for these ears!

Well there's a new site I can add to my list. Thank you!!!

Now I have to decide if I want to spend $35 out the door for a new one with those ears, or install without them as a few of you have mentioned isn't necessary.. 😫

I have one. About 750mm O.A. length. Want it? Like I already said, if yours is just missing the ears, you can still use it. Just line it up with a screwdriver, before you try and slip the axle in.....

So yes, I have the stock collar/tube that came when I disassembled it, but the ears are wrecked. You're telling me that those 'ears' 100% serve no other purpose than holding the collar there for the axel to slip into? I truly don't want to jeopardize any element of the bikes handling in any way shape or form.
Thankful for everyone on this forum. Grateful to continue to learn so much.

Yes, that’s all they do. They get mangled when you go to knock out the old bearings. In order to move them aside and allow access to hit the bearing, they get damaged. Just use your collar “as is”. You’ll have to fiddle a bit to line it up, when you put the axle trough, but no real problem.

Okay then that's what I'll do. If I were going with a period correct resto I would probably buy them but since that's all they do, I don't need them. Thanks a bunch to you and everyone else who had input for me!

That's what I said in my very first comment.  ;D
