since I did not have a bandsaw to cut the gap at clamping area and my grinding disks would suck, I went and bought a hacksaw to start practicing. checked the gap on original with the blade and fit snug but went through.

it is good to see how these triples were cast. it looks like I will have to flip upside down and try.

I did see that the triple that was listed to bid on ebay went for a more down to earth price of 152.50 plus 9 bucks shipping.
there was another person selling one for 400 elsewhere but who knows.

got the drill bits and got to work
after I finished drilling those out I will not do that again
unless.... I get myself the right equipment that is needed to do that!
both fork tubes are snug on the way down and the steering stem stops at the bottom.
I will say that not knowing the basics of machining I guess I should not drill at both the top and bottom or it might not line up.
Ill go ahead and finish cutting the slots and drilling the clamp holes for bolts and give it the torque test.

 If you used old carburetor bodies to melt down, you have Zinc in your alloy.

That zinc is some tough stuff to try and drill through! It's probably why they did the triples like that.
