brembo calipers
« on: September 17, 2022, 10:09:14 AM »
Hi, Is anyone running the SMALLER Brembo calipers  on a CB750  [as fitted to the R65 bikes] as front brakes for a race bike ? .... please advise if so,  ..... Do they overheat ? ....what type of pads? .... how many races do the pads last ?  I have the option of using the small Brembos  R65 type,  or the larger  [K100RS type]  I really like the look of the smaller ones If they are up to the job?  Thanks in advance for any advise.    Mike.

I use the F05's with 300mm cast iron rotors on my 550. Because the the softer iron rotors I use Ferodo Platinum pads which are not race pads, but easier on the rotors. I believe braking is as good as it can get with these small calipers.

Sorry to say though with a heavier 750 you might want to use larger calipers.

Thank you for the advice , I will use the larger calipers,  can't have too much stopping power.

I have used the larger 08's they where the best that where available to me,
ie;pre.1970 historic road race sidecar.
The older I get the faster I was.

The p05's are used on road 750's, but for racing the P08's are prefered. You can lighten them a bit by shaving off some of the back and by using the lighter hard anodised aluminium pistons. Also changing the bolts for Titanium ones helps.
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

Just to verify, do the P08's fit to spoked wheels without any modifications?

Thanks,
Daniel

In my opinion, the only reason to run the old Brembos is when they are required by vintage racing rules. ;) Also, they aren't easily mounted on CB "K" model forks.
