78 front axle retainer

How does number 6 come off?  Does it screw off?

retainer on speedo side...

Isn't 6 held on by 7 which is secured by the 6 bolts that mount the brake disk?

Maybe so, I have taken number 7 off and the disc, but didn't want to try to force anything off.  Will have a good look at it again.

Here's a few screenshots from ebay, I think it just sits there retained by 7.

Thanks Alan, I went and started to pry it off, and it came right off with hardly any pressure.

Bearings / spokes out and next is cleaning hub and installing new spokes to mount up to new rim.

I've got the same project going on for my K8's wheels. But I moved house and shop last year and it all got packed up for storage. It's probably all mentioned in my build thread, link in my signature line.

Edit: concrete anchors for bearing removal are in reply #85 in my thread.
