Right after spending $600 to have them serviced, the speedo stop working.  I purchased one from ebay but it has about 20,000 less miles on the odometer.  Is there any simple way to advance it?

I'd make a note of miles under the seat and enjoy it. I remember someone connecting a blower duty electric motor to a drill chuck, turning the cable with that and letting it run for days/weeks but you need to consider rotation.

I had sent it to Marcel to rebuild.  He did so.  About 60 miles later the odometer I stopped.  I got back to him.  He says he doesn't check them he just oils them and makes them pretty.

I was going to post “ride the bike 20,000 miles”,  but I changed my mind.

I had the same experience  - he definitely doesn't repair them, but he makes a good job of making them look nice.

Easy way?? Clip a piece of speedo cable, Chuck it up in your drill and tape the button down. Boom! May take a while.

You can always pull it apart and rearrange the numbers.

This is kinda ironic, in the "old days" guys were always wanting to turn them back!

Haha yes! That is most certainly usually the case.

I have myself push a odometer forward in order to make my life easier. A guy sold me a bike, with a speedo he replaced. Didn’t match paperwork so In order to not have any problems at DMV I put a few thousand miles on it to match the paperwork.

If it was purchased instate I would t have bothered, but out of state, meant dmv inspection and anything they can gripe at just make it harder.

Does the speedo part still work??

In all honesty, it takes but a few minutes to check em to make sure they are functional. Pretty weak if he doesn’t check em for function.

That said, if he did and they worked, not much he can do if they stop working after.
