With the cost and availability problems of getting traction compound there's very little over prepping going on. At least around the midwest US.

I'm hoping after the fiasco with minimal traction at the last Man Cup event at Rockingham Dragway, they'll do everything possible to redeem themselves at Valdosta. The dilemma against this is hinged on it being Jay Regans last event as owner and he likely could careless how it ends.

For foam tires on RC cars on asphalt we would use cheap sugar sweetened soda for traction compound. I
It worked pretty good in addition to prepping the tires before racing with traction compound.

Broderick Jackson supposedly has inked the deal to purchase Man Cup. Goes by the name of Hollywood.

I wonder is my fellow Finn Samu Kemppainen racing in nitro twin?
Bike is owned by another Finn Juha Hintukainen if I'm right.

Sam might remember Samu, he teamed up with this Canadian guy in Alastaro... can't remember his name right now, hit the wall but luckily survived with almost no injury. Sam is a social bloke so he ended up talking to almost everyone in the paddock  ;D

Man, that 4.60 class is hauling ass. It looks like a rain delay now at 3pm central time.

It's the quickest motorcycle index class in America right now. It's also the fastest growing class in almost every sanctioning body. The turnout was excellent at this event.  The main incentive was the $10,000 purse. I'm hoping to mix it in with the folk in this class myself next season.

So how about a race report?? I happened to catch one of Wilbur's runs on the live feed yesterday evening; it looked like he bogged off the line? I noticed guys testing the stickiness of the track surface with their shoes, and it looked pretty sticky.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Billy struggled with his mph setting bike all weekend.  He did not make any passes on Saturday or Sunday. He didn't run Purple Rain either. Larry had a broken throttle  cable friday but Wilbur repaired it.  Larry won 1st round street ET Saturday.  Wilbur lost 1st round street ET Saturday. I won 1st round street ET also. I won first round pro ET on the wife's bike. Sunday we had cold weather and it had rained overnight. This caused a rain delay until after 12. They ran 2nd round street ET.  I lost due to red-light. I think both Wilbur and Larry went out also. The temperatures were so cold many of the higher horsepower  pro bikes had traction issues. There were several oil downs that caused delays. In the end, the race was called due to low track temperatures before the sportsman classes could start 1st round eliminations.

Juha, that was the European round 10 years ago and you expect me to remember with my F***ed up brain. hahahaha. Yes, only joking, I remember Samu and the  wild Canadian that hit the wall in qualifying was Nate Gagnon but he was ok and raced the day after. Don't forget, it's your Sons birthday today.

No win lights for me. Bogging off the line was my biggest setback. Had a false neutral in round one. Finally managed a smooth launch for round two then had two false neutrals that kept me from being competitive in round two. I see an undercut trans in my future...

Reattached the barrel end of the throttle cable for Larry on Friday to keep him in the program, then had to rig up a start switch after his start switch jettisoned itself while we were fixing the throttle cable! Helped Bill get his leaky air shifter sorted out.

It was good to see everyone, glad Mike (with sons) and Jerry were able to make it. This was the coldest event I've ever participated in. It was near 30F Friday morning, but sunny all day and got up to near 60F Friday afternoon, making it the best weather day by far. Saturday was overcast with a low around 40 and highs in the 50s with a couple of sprinkles to slow things down. Light rain most of the night Saturday night with temps on Sunday never getting much above the mid 40s. I'm still a little stiff and achy...

I ended up paired with the same rider in round two that I had lost to in round one. I asked him "So you're giving me a chance to redeem myself?", to which he replied "You beat me in Orlando back in the spring!". Which I had completely forgotten about, but he sure remembered getting schooled by some p.o.s. old Honda!  8)
TAMTF...

Wilbur, you were basically learning to ride that bike all over again due to the stock motor set up. You got acclimated to the low end power of the larger 836 and making adjustments will take added seat time. I know you were hoping to make rounds to advance in points this weekend.  I trust you'll still end up in the top 10.

One good thing came out of the weekend is your experience with the air shifter system on Bill's bike. Now you can get yours set up and it'll help with consistency going into the 2023 season.

Thanks for all the help you gave Bill and Larry this weekend.  The Honda's made a decent showing. Looking forward to racing with everyone next year.
