centrestand rubbing on chain
« on: March 09, 2007, 11:09:17 AM »
Hi All

My centrestand on my cb400F1 rubs the chain when running, and looks like it has been for some time, (worn away at the bit that rests on the ground). The chain is a little slack, but not too bad.

could the stand be bent???

hope you can help

The stock muffler has a rubber bump stop for the center stand.

No stock muffler?  No more bump stop.

I agree with ditching the centerstand... but if you have one of the many 400s that have no sidestand or you just gotta have it... You can take a piece of 1/4" thick by about 5/8" wide strap steel and cut it to about 2" long. Drill a hole in the end of it and bolt it to the original holes for the exhaust bracket at the bottom of the "hoop" on the right side of the bike so that it points straight toward your rear wheel and... viola! Instant centerstand stop.
