Who's got the best price on a K&N pcv filter ?
« on: November 11, 2022, 11:12:02 AM »
I want to install a small K&N pcv filter to vent my crankcase and found the right one;I just can't seem to find one that'll ship-out to me And meet my budget for the rest of the month..  ::) A local Napa guy found it for me for $22.49 but then let me down because he wanted alot to have it shipped to his store here.
The small k&n filter is part#62-1000 and it's exactly the correct spec.(1.5" diameter)with the 3/8" male inlet to hook-up directly to the crankcase hose I'm using and just the right size to fit behind the sidecover.

update:I just called a local Carquest store(one of the few remaining Carquest, not Advance)in Woodland and they have the K&N in their system for $25+tax and no shipping, which is a good option for me.

That's great. We still have a real Carquest too. Advance built a store close to the existing Carquest so Keith moved to what turned out to be a better location and took all of the commercial customers with him. I feel very lucky to still have a real parts store in town. Plus Keith is a real auto parts counterman that knows what he is doing. ;D

That K&N Filter is a very attractive solution. For many years, we mostly used disposable, plastic case fuel filters on the race cars, as breather end caps. They were very economical and light weight......

I see the dimensions are only 1.5"? diameter and it's a molded rubber top(less damage to paint or plastic sidecover)so it's going to make it easier to place it on my bike, even after running a PCV hose along a frame rail with zip ties and placing it near the airbox behind a sidecover.

I have this for my carbs pilot air jet filtering.
Filter used for air coming in, not going out.

Really small. Got a good price at my local shop when finding it on their stock shelves.
https://www.knfilters.com/62-1560-vent-air-filter-breather
OD 35mm
Height 31mm, with spigot 42.5mm

The inlet is 19mm (3/4")
Maybe too wide to fit direct on breather pipe without additional hose to make it thicker. From 1/2" to 3/4"

Ok,I see now. The 62-1560 K&N filter is designed to fit over a piece of tubing with a hose clamp?
The 62-1000 that I'm interested in has a 3/8" metal pipe on it's steel flange which gets pushed into a piece of 3/8" PCV hose and clamped.  ;)

Just go to Lowe's and get a barbed nipple that fits the hose. Then order cheap breathers on Ebay. You can probably get a bag full for ehat the K&N costs.

K&N filters have increased in price.
I bought pods for my Smoothbores 29 2013,  my TMR32 2015.
It's around double price today, still in USD.

K&N has been around for a while;they have quality stuff that lasts.
I will run one of their breather filters knowing it can be cleaned and reused many times w/o falling apart;those cheap K&N replica filters are fair quality and useful.
I won't install a K&N as an air intake filter because I prefer the UNI foam filters.

It comes with K&N oil, I'd think it would oil itself.
I bought a bike with the oil tank tied into the valve cover vent once. I cut in a tee and used one of those to vent them both under the gas tank.
