So what type of paint are you going to shoot, do you plan on a clear coat?

I'm not sure what kind of paint automotive touchup sells in aerosol, but the clear I put on it was the Dupli-color 1K.

Just out of the paint booth, got a couple of small runs.

Will wet sand and polish in a couple of days.

I think they turned out nice, I wasn't expecting perfect.

These will do for a while.

2006 Lexus ES300: Black Garnet Pearl 3Q2

It is not a perfect match, but very close.

Very nice color, I like the pearl in it.

I find it nearly impossible to match old paint, I have tried twice and failed.

Lightly wet sanded tank with 2000 grit, buffed and polished.  No sign of red paint coming off, so must have a clear coat.

Before and after pics.  I really can't justify painting this tank yet.

Side covers complete, need to let the decals set up for  couple of days before install.

Next on the list is probably fork seals, but that might wait until winter time or if they start leaking more.  When I go out and ride about 15 or so miles, I can see evidence of a minor leak on the bottom of the fork, but the seal appears to be holding up pretty well.

Time to ride a little..........

Nice work on the covers. I always file a bit of plastic off the top and bottom of each “pin”, install new rubbers, and add a little grease. Enjoy the ride, you’ve done a really nice job.
