I used Spray Max cans on my brown CB750 K2 tank + covers. Good spray nossles for cans.
2k black primer/filler, 1k copper brown metallic and 2k clear that withstand fuel and abuse.

Tank sealed and primed.....good day, ~70 degrees with 45% humidity.

Got plans tomorrow, but looks like rain moving in Thursday/Friday, and busy over the weekend.

Hopefully early next week can shoot some paint.

Nice, SprayMax is excellent. Repaintsupply.com has pretty good prices on the 2k and like your supplier they can put any paint in the cans, house of color being an exception, they have paint matching but house of color does their own thing.

All paint is a lot more expensive than 10 years back and outrageous $ in California, if you can get it.

Let any 1k paint dry thoroughly before top coating...

An onion in the making... The Orion silver looks nice...silver can be unforgiving of less than good technique.

Finished with last color coat (5 coats) and 3 coats of clear.

Will need to sand, buff and polish in a few days as I saw a couple of nitpicks on the 2nd coat of clear.

After polishing will apply decals, let dry for a few days and clear coat again.

Looks stunning! Be patient. I’d put it in the house, next to my furnace for 10 days.

Mark1976,  I referred to my 550 thread a lot and re-read some of your comments on painting, just wanted you to know that it helped a lot, and again, Thanks!

The tank looks really good!
Side covers too?

Spray Max 2K clear is hard which you'll notice when sanding it.

The first clears are 1k? After polishing and  decals you are doing 2k clear? Be certain to wait for all the outgassing of the color and clear...else you risk bubbles beneath your 2k. You I am sure are aware of this. Cooler weather/temps will slow the cure.

I used 2k clear very soon after 1k metallic on my K2.  30-45 minutes.
Each layer of 1k metallic had 10-15 minutes flash off.

Clear had to go on soon.
Had been better if all paint should have been 2k as in the 80's.

Side covers pretty much complete after 2 more coats of 2k clear today.

After they dry good I may sand and buff.

I put on 3 coats of clear, then sanded back with 800 grit to get some flaws out, then re-cleared.

The side cover emblems are from Frankenstuff....I sprayed with Orion silver, filled in the black with Testors hobby paint, then covered with 3 coats of 2k clear.

Now for the tank, I have 4 coats of clear, sanded back down with 800 grit, and will start with decals likely Thursday, then let set up a few days before clearing again.
