Today installed the oil tank, brake pedal, shift pedal and rear drive chain.

I converted from 630 to 530 chain and sprockets, using JTF-338 (17)  and JTR-284 (48).

The JTF338 has a shoulder on one side, I initially installed with shoulder out, but after installing chain, it was rubbing the engine case.

I then reversed the front sprocket with shoulder inside, no more chain rub.

That is correct, shoulder to the inside.  8)

Checked floats on carbs today off the bike using alcohol 91%, glad I did because #1 was draining out the overflow.

Took bowl off and noticed some sediment, and was set too high, reset the float adjustment and retested.

All good now, will check the accelerator pump this afternoon.

1st pic is #4
2nd pic is #1 after adjustment

#2 and 3 look like #1

Checked accelerator pump, works fine with throttle.
Installed carbs/air box, put in oil.

Hopefully will put on exhausts later this week/weekend.

Need to prime oil pump before starting.

Did you prime the pump during your build up? If so, pull the plugs and crank it.

I did not, probably should have.  Plugs are out though, will probably try next week, as I am busy with other things rest of week.

Grandson came over today and helped me get the exhaust system on.  This is a used set I bought from FB marketplace, out of Arizona.

About a 7-8 on a 10 point scale, really good shape.

Got oil pressure yesterday and tried to start today............no luck.  It acted like it wanted to fire off a couple of times, then battery went flat.

Hooked up to charger and tried a few more times.

Used an auxiliary fuel tank to test.
Even though I bench tested the carbs, think #4 was leaking out the overflow.  So they will come back out to retest and set if necessary.

Not far into troubleshooting yet, but checked each spark plug wire with an old plug and had fire on each one.  Cleaned points with some sandpaper and alcohol.  Reset point gap to .012".

After troubleshooting carbs tomorrow will retry to start.

Have you thought about using a car or truck battery for cranking until you've got it figured out?

Have you thought about using a car or truck battery for cranking until you've got it figured out?

When I purchased the bike back in September the previous owner had just purchased a new battery to show me it would run.  It's been sitting on my work bench since then, until I charged it over the weekend.

Maybe I should pull the one out of my truck to try...

You might want to get that battery load tested at Auto Zone.
