My current rides
1975 K5 Planet Blue my summer ride, it was a friend's bike I worked with at the Honda shop in 76, lots of fun to be on it again
1976 K6 Anteres Red rebuilding project, was originally my brother's that I set up from the crate, it'll breath again soon!
Project 750s, 2 K4, 2 K6, 1 K8
2008 GL1800 my daily ride and cross country runner

Prior bikes....
1972 Suzuki GT380 I had charge of it for a year in 1973 while my friend was deployed and learned to love street riding....
New CB450 K7 after my friend returned...
New CB750 K5 Planet Blue, demise by ex cousin in law at 9,000 miles...
New CB750 K6 Anteres Red, to replace the totaled K5, I sold this K6 at 45k in 1983, I had heavily modified it, many great memories on it and have missed it greatly.....

Discovered a leaking oil tank line this afternoon after a 20 mile ride.  Will be calling a few hydraulic shops next week to see if they can be repaired.

You likely will need to harvest the ends from your old lines and the shop is likely to have tools to do this. If they don't then several good measurements and then you will dissect your hoses for the ends. They will need to clock the ends correctly. So, they get the new hose made correctly. But they would be unlikely to have ends that mate to the motor and tank correctly as they are custom parts Honda spec'd.

Is the alu cruch washer OK and properly tightened at the tank connection?
If it can leak and flow downwards.

I don't think it is leaking at the fitting on tank, it appears the hose itself is weeping.

Will know more when I have a chance to remove it, traveling this week, will get to it next week.

Neither hose runs at any real pressure, so that would be odd. Sure the kicker seal isn’t leaking and dripping on the hose?

The bike was barely running when I got it, and too dangerous to try to ride, so that's the reference I was referring to.

Installed new oil lines today, what a pain.

I was a little concerned, had a small kink in the feed line (back hose from oil tank). I let it run in the garage for about 15-20 mins.

No oil leaks and good oil pressure according to gauge on the oil galley.  Tank was getting hot and I could see a little bubbling inside the tank, so I guess the oil line is ok.

I just bought a 1978 myself and really enjoyed reading through this entire thread!  I learned a ton from reading all the comments and your bike looks beautiful.  I learned to ride on a 1978 CB750K in that exact color and pinstriping.  I bought this one to try to recreate it and to see one like I remember in your thread was pretty inspiring!  Beautiful bike and great documentation for everyone to see the evolution.  Thanks for sharing it.

The oil hose leaking at the tank is VERY common on the 750K7/8 bikes (and F2/3). It seems to be related to the extra kink angle of the smaller oil tank where the hose must bend a bit to make its trip to the engine. When the rubber gets aged, it cracks at the crimp fitting, then weeps down the braided cover to drip off the engine-side fitting. While the F0/1 does it, too, it is slightly less of an angle in that frame, so it takes longer for the hose to crack, or it occurs after the oil tank gets removed and reinstalled (usually for engine R&R).

I took you up and headed over to new members and introduced myself.  Should have done that right away but I was in the zone. 

Initially I had no plans to do any kind of photoblog like this but you all have inspired me, especially those of you who helped me diagnose and work through my brake light issue today.  I will say the whole thing is pretty intimidating.  I know how to turn a wrench and generally how things should look, but how to get them there is a whole different thing.  But I think I am going to document it so I can maybe help someone else who knows just enough to get themselves in trouble (like me).  Besides this is supposed to be my retirement thing, might as well get started on it early and enjoy riding it when I retire!
