Cb550 Tank badges
« on: November 20, 2022, 07:59:40 AM »
Hi all,

Does anyone have any knowledge on the different tank badge fitments, I have a '76 Cb550 F1(Frame and engine numbers correlate), however upon stripping the tank the decals and colour underneath, according to the model guide on here it appears the tank might be a CB550 K3 tank? The colour appears to be Candy Garnet Brown?

Could anyone enlighten me as to whether some of the badges for the CB550's may be universally fit throughout the different models?

Cheers.

Think F1, F2, K3 tanks are the same as far as dimensions are concerned. Pin spacing and dia are the most important things to consider if you are not looking for the correct style for your year. Many badges can be shaped to follow the contours of your tank. I made a wooden former that was shaped to tank so I could to correct mine even though they were the correct badges.

Look up the parts at cmsnl, if the numbers are the same so are the parts

I remember seeing that same color/decals on a 1978 CB550K
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !

My guess is that tank is a 1977 or 1978 K style tank with the hidden fuel cap with the metal door and graphics. I have a 1978 CB550K that uses the same system and I believe the 1977 did too. Prior to that the gas tanks were the fuel cap on top of the tank, which everyone is familiar with on Honda tanks.

Tank badges will likely be specific to those two model years with the earlier ones a different part number. Check a parts fiche as suggested to be sure.
