Gas cap Lost key
« on: November 07, 2022, 04:59:11 AM »
I bought this bike with no gas cap key. I tried to pick the lock but could not. I drilled through the lock & now have a hole straight through but still can't get it to unlock. Any ideas? Thanks, Scott.

Yes, what bike??  On the CB's, no specific key is needed, a screwdriver would work.

Oohh, that's a tougher one.  Yamaha gas caps have actual keys, but it's cheaper to get a replacement gas cap with the keys for around $20 on amazon or eBay.  Hardest part is drilling out the lock tumblers to remove the cap.  Be careful not to make any sparks as there is a risk of, um, explosion.

I did get a new cap which came with keys. The hardest thing was to drill out the old cylinder but I finally got it. Thanks. :)
