Does this look like the exhaust gasket is still on there?
« on: December 05, 2022, 12:18:05 PM »
Looking at the pics, does that look like the exhaust gaskets are stuck on the head exhaust ports?

I tried using a pick tool to see if they would come loose, no luck.

Before I resort to harsher techniques, wanted to check to make sure that these are the old gaskets.  I assume they have never been out.  The stock rusted exhaust was still on the bike when I purchased.

 Yup. go for it.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

+1.  I typically use a small screwdriver and a hammer, a light tap should separate it.

It is made of copper and the head is aluminum, so gentle tap, don’t wanna score or scar the exhaust port sealing surface.

use a razor blade to get it started if need be so you arent gouging with a screw driver.

Very small, thin screwdriver to get inside the gasket and lift it a little.
Then use a bigger one and get the gasket out.

It is possible that the gasket is not that visible.
Adding a new one on top and the exhaust might get a strange fitting.
