CB550 heavy clutch pull
« on: December 14, 2022, 05:23:27 AM »
Hi Guys,
I got this bike (cb550k1) a few months ago and after seeing photos of cb550s, my clutch cable seems too long.
Also its a hard pull also. I attached a photo of how the cable is sticking out. Its routed with the other cables on the right under the tank.
I think previous owner bought wrong length cable?
Anyone know the best place to get correct cable?
or can I use this?
Thanks.

the cable routing is technically for a 550 F....but it should be the same for the clutch cable...
A hard to pull clutch can be caused just from an old dirty cable.....

It’s too long and if it’s pulling hard just replace it, they are cheap…or find a local shop that will shorten it for you.

edit: nice bike.

The more bends in the clutch cable the more friction it will have.  But a hard pull can also stem from improper adjustment at the pivot arm at the clutch, or too stiff spring in a replacement clutch.  Barnett was famous for this.
