Maybe nobody made me laugh more back in the good old days than the Smothers Brothers.

Funny clip, Greg.

For what nowadays appear to be a couple of very conservative comedians, almost hard to believe that their show was cancelled due to anti-Vietnam war skits and other political commentary.

That was great. I loved the Smothers Brothers,  that brought back some old memories.

I watched that show as often as I could.  I remember how controversial it was.  They would get criticized for ridiculous things.  It has been decades since I have seen the skit so some of the details are hazy, but I remember one where Tommy is in a restaurant at a table and his fly is down.  In the process of zipping it up, he catches the table cloth in the zipper.  So when he gets up to leave, he pulls the cloth and everything on the table to the floor.  It was hilarious, but I remember the criticism they got for somehow degrading society.  I guess we weren't supposed to acknowledge the existence of trouser flies in polite discourse.  Ironically, I doubt they would fare any better if they were on the air today with a sketch critical of supporting other people's wars.  Or making fun of any number of other sacred cows that have popped up these days.

Love those guys.  When I worked for AOL, they were often on AOL radio and I listened to it most of my work day.  Gotta say it helped me a lot with my English comprehension and vocabulary.

I still look them up on youtube every so often - and others from the good, old days of stand up comedy.

I remember seeing this when it first aired.  Most of my spare time when I was a kid was on the dirt bike and you didn't see it that much on mainstream TV, so it was memorable -

Funny!  What bike is that Greg? Looks similar to a Suzuki?

They were my favorite, and the only ones who could stop me from walking away from the TV in those days, if they came on (them, and Star Trek...). They got 'cancelled' following their "new, iron-clad, 13-week contract" just as I was going off to college, so I missed their last 'season' on the air. IMHO, they were some of the only ones who didn't insult their audience's intelligence with their 'edgy' humor of those days.
