Great pics Bud, and great sentiment Dennis. My doctor is younger than my two sons and he’s keen to get the VA to fund medical cannabis. They’ve given him the OK and he’s been filling out some forms so it’ll be good to reduce the need for opioids. I’m not going to be smoking weed, it’s in liquid form but he’s not ruling out weed occasionally as well. I’m not a big fan after trying it last year when I wasn’t a smoker but anything that will help will be considered. I’ve just loaded my little truck with more treasure to take to the swap meet tomorrow and am soaking wet, but looking forward to unloading some stuff tomorrow. I’ve already pre-sold enough parts to make it worthwhile, so anything else that I can get rid of will be the icing on the cake. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Ride #63, 68 miles.
.....
I'm going to try to get out tomorrow, Sunday and Monday.  It will have to be afternoon rides, but I think I'll steer clear of Fredericksburg.  That will get me to 66, with only three more rides to go.

Way to go Bud!  I hate hot weather, but on a cold and raining 40 degree day here in Ohio, I envy the weather you have in Texas this time of the year.
Thanks.  I’m fortunate that I can ride pretty much all year round.  It will likely get very cold before too long, twenties and teens.  It’s a week to week thing though.

It’s been dipping into the 30’s some mornings.  Not much rain though.  Looks like this next week the highs will be around 70 all week.  I might have to try to finish up for the year.

Brrrrrr, I'm fu fu fu frickin cold!!!  Lol  Was cloudy and 50F today, but it rained all night so the road was wet and the humidity was high.  Made it bone chillin cold.  Thought I could tough it out, so off I went....

First stop about 5 miles from home, the gas station.  Gas is down to $2.69 here.  Way to cold for a ride, but.....  I picked up the Turbo just one year ago today, and with 23.2 miles the clock will roll over to 9000 miles.

December 2, 2022.....

Total trip something like 30 miles.  Forecast says next Friday will be sunny and 55F.....

Good for you Dennis.
Just 200 mi north, we had snow on the ground in the morning, lots of sunshine.

.....  1) All four tire sensors dead $$l 2)

Hey Kevin, sorry to hear about your weather.  Was 40ish and raining here all day.

You might try WalMart for your tire sensors.  A few years back I was changing oil there part time, and we had the best price in town for sensors and re-calibrating them.

Planning ahead Dennis?

Ride #64, 91 miles.

I rode up to Llano again.  I discovered an old hotel up there next to the old train station museum that I wanted to get a picture of, but there were too many cars.  I'll have to catch it mid-week some time.  I'm interested in what they might have at the train station museum.  It looks like Llano might have been the end of line.  I don't think this line is still active, but there's an engine and an old passenger car on the track, like they might give rides.  I can't find any info online.  There's a similar train in Dallas/Fort Worth that does that.  I've ridden it before.  There's also one in Durango, CO that I've also ridden.

I stopped at the river park again and had lunch.  Today I walked down to the river and snapped a few pics.  Lots of granite!  I don't know the story of the little bench or the stone structure.  The bench looks purposeful, like an artist may have built it, but the structure looks like something teenagers might have built.  There is lots of rock stacking going on down there.  Probably not much to do for the young folks in a small town like that.  Stacking rocks with your friends on a Friday night might be a thing.

Not freezy cold 5 months winter plus a few cold days/weeks more as here in the north. ;D

I'll rode all summer, just made sure I was home by noon.  105F in the afternoons is a little too warm for me.

The cold months are December through February.  It will get well below freezing during these months, but it is also not unusual to see days with temps in the 70' or even 80's.  I had four rides in January and five rides in February this year, and two rides in December last year.

The really hot months are July, August and September.  My lowest ride month this year was in May with only one ride.  It was probably raining a lot and I remember I had also gone out of town.

Well I'm pretty sure I'm not going to catch up to budman, but I did knock off # 21 today.

Because we don't get a lot of rain here in So Cal and even less snow we are fortunate enough to ride just about anytime.  That is if you don't mind the high temps at 95+° or the lows that can be in the high 30's  and I HATE COLD. So to fix that I bought some Axial Block stuff so I can keep riding. The shirt I bought was too small because I guess my man boobs are getting bigger the older i get. And that set up today's ride.  I bought this stuff on-line ( which I don't like to do)  and Revzilla has 1 so Cal store in Newport Beach, about 35 miles away, perfect!  I exchanged my stuff and looked around a bit and there wasn't anything I couldn't live with out.

So being a sunny high 60's day (apologies to our Northern, Eastern, and European members. But it is what it is.) I had to cruise around Newport Beach for a bit. I rode by a bunch of jobs I did over the years for a few hours then skidaddled on home. Didn't take many pics and  no food, just pure wind therapy for 103 miles.

Palm trees look like a not THAT cold place! ;D

One of the good things with this thread is all photos I take during my rides.
I have specific memories that feels like long time ago.
Looked at the photos in my phone were the date was April 22 this year! I thought 2022.

I have more memories like that.

A good medicine against the thoughts that times flies away too fast. ;) ;)

So true Per, even the ugly pictures can bring back fond memories.  Also you are correct, it wasn't cold today, about 68° f at the beach. Perhaps my not so cold pictures can help the snowed in people have hope for rides to come.

Ride #65, 57 miles.

Just a quick trek around the block.  I was trying to relax today AND get some work done too, so I had to get back home.  The weather was beautiful.  Wish I could have stayed out longer.

So close, Jim!  I didn't know Revzilla had outlets.  I buy stuff from them from time to time.  They have Cycle Gear in Texas.  They appear to be connected to Revzilla.  I figured Cycle Gear was the outlets.  They carry the same house-brands as Revzilla and if I buy tires from Revzilla I can get a discount if I have them mounted at Cycle Gear.  Last time I was there I was looking at a "mid-layer" jacket...basically a light jacket to wear on 70-ish degree days that I could also wear under a heavier jack if it got really cold.  They wanted too much money for what it was, so I poked around on Amazon and bought a light bicycling jacket that appeared to be a very similar product, but I forgot to look to see if it had Velcro on the sleeves to keep the wind out, which it didn't and it was also just a bit snug.  I gave it to my son when he was here for Thanksgiving and bought a different one with Velcro sleeves and slightly more insulation.  It's been working good, but the sleeves end up being a little short when my arms are up in riding position.  It dawned on me yesterday that I could get some sweat bands for my wrist as a way of extending the sleeves.  To test my theory, today I cut the tops off some socks that were wearing thin before I splurged on the sweat bands.  Worked great!  Unfortunately, I'll probably only get a few rides out of the sock bands because they're already starting to unravel.

The weather this week looks promising.  I found more cash in my wallet than I thought I had, so maybe some BBQ this week.  I'm going to try to at least get to 68 rides.  I fear some serious cold stuff will be heading this way soon.

Bud you are correct, cycle gear and revzilla are related and there is a little crossover. Their gift cards are not transferable between them though. I think the store in Newport Beach may be the only west coast store, California for sure. We have Cycle Gear here too, lots of them. Revzilla tends to carry some higher end stuff that might be special order or not available at cycle gear.

As for mid layers I found that a simple wind breaker under my jacket but over a thermal shirt and tee shirt worked great. My Barstow ride had temps reading 46° f on my dash for about a 45 minute stretch and I was fine. My FJR might block the wind just a tad better than your Indian. Try it out for your added layer if it gets a bit chilly, everybody has some old wind breaker laying around, you might be suprized. Plus it packs small all wadded up in the side bags!

Gloves with long cuffs covering the jackets sleeves is my choice to keep insects and cold air outside.

I have short gloves with mesh between the fingers for summer. When it gets colder I have gauntlet gloves. I also just bought some liners, but haven't had a chance to use them yet.

I have no wind breaker.  I have a really nice horse hide jacket that my ex bought me years ago, but I’ve lost weight and it’s too big.  It’s thick and heavy and only good for 55 and below temps.  I’ve been thinking about having it altered/fitted, but I would need someone who really knew what they were doing with thick leather.  I have a couple of other jackets and shackets I can layer if I need to.

I have gauntlets but again, they’re for colder temps.  I’ve worn them a couple of times this fall, but pack my regular shorter gloves for when it starts to warm up on the ride.

Ride #66, 64 miles.

I had to run to town to mail a package this afternoon.  It wouldn't fit in the saddle bags, so this was the first time to use the sissy bar for its intended purpose.  Perfect afternoon.  The guesser waid it was 68F, but felt like it was about 75 with perfectly clear skies and very little wind.

It looked like I was going to be cutting this ride close the 50-mile mark so I decided to get some gas on the southside and take a slightly longer route home.  Just down the road from the gas station is a little Tex Mex joint.  I hadn't eaten lunch or packed anything to eat, so when I saw the OPEN sign lit up and a few cars in the parking lot I had to stop.  I had the chicken chalupas.  I can't remember the last time I had Tex Mex restaurant food; other than the breakfast tacos I've been eating.  It was really tasty.  I've eaten here a couple of times.  It the kind of place where the locals eat.  The prices were non-tourist, pre-scamdemic prices.  I thought I was in the Twighlight Zone for a second.

I zigg-zagged my way home with a full belly.  I won't be cooking dinner.

Tres mas!  Right now, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are looking good for rides.  Sure would like to get a longer ride in one of those days.  These shorter rides don't satisfy.

I love that word: “Pre-scamdemic”. Yesterday I stopped at a neighbours, for liquid honey. He has about 20 hives on 10 acres, bordering on my place and another farm, twice the size of mine. I always take back my jars clean and he refills them. Two years ago a jar of honey was $8. Now it’s $16. Mmmm. I don’t think he’s paying the bees any extra so not sure how this has become a “supply chain issue”.

Bud….That lunch looks great!

Without getting too political, we’re just paying back…nevermind.  I don’t want to get too political.

Funny you mention bees.  When I got to the post office and was unstrapping the package from my bike, a lone bee kept getting in all up in my personal space.  I gave him 3-4 good smacks in the face, knocking him back about 10 feet each time.  I figured he’d had a pretty headache, but he kept coming back for more punishment.  The best I can figure was that before I left I wiped the bike down with some sweet smelling Chemical Guys Quick Detailer spray.  It smells great.  Very sweet and fruity.  I must have gotten some on me.  Makes the bike smell good too.  He kind of backed off, but when I came back after bringing the package inside he was still sniffing around the bike.

And while I’m thinking about it…I’ve gotten into a bad habit of “beeping” at flocks of sheep and goats grazing in their pastures as I’m riding by.  The Scout has the wimpiest sounding horn, but it scares the crap out of the sheep and goats.  It’s a good chuckle.  One little beep is all it takes.

We had 6" on snow here at the house less than a week ago, with the usual salt and mag chloride plastered on the roads.  But it warmed up and turned to rain after a couple of days that cleaned the roads off.  With the temp near 60, the 750 and I went through a half a tank of gas today.  They are talking about snow again by the weekend, so this might be it again for a while.

Nothing like a bonus ride when you think all hope was lost! But those are some strange looking cattle!
