1986 Yamaha SRX-6
« on: January 04, 2023, 03:17:57 PM »
Visited an extraordinary collection of BMW, NSU, Honda, Triumph, BSA, Yamaha, Suzuki, Whizzer, and even a Vincent Comet today (+70 bikes). The Yamaha single was in “as new” condition. What a cool bike! Anyone ride one?

Have not heard of it, but I'm not into 80's bikes.  CycleWorld likes it...

I think our fellow member Azuredesign has one, but I notice in his profile he hasn't logged in here in a while. Shoot him a PM and maybe we can get him to start hanging out with us again.

I agree. Great looking “single”. Kick start only is odd, for 1986. Keeps the weight down?

yamaha used the motor out of the XR600 which was pre electric boot days, guess it wasn't worth re-tooling just for that bike , as good as it was supposed to be it never sold many, at least not here in oz, those were the days of the serious horsepower/racerep bikes and that sort of stuff always sold more here than actual practical bikes.
i've always liked them but i'd never have fitted on one , now or then.

There was also a similarly styled SRX250 which sold a few more due to the 250cc learner laws in effect at the time
i blame Terry

I actually sat on it the other day and was surprised how roomy and comfortable it was. Searched to see if there were any for sale in Canada at this time..... ZERO. Oh well.

Simon.... my apologies! If it’s any consolation, I called the guy whose collection I was invited to see. Thanked him for a fantastic afternoon, and then mentioned “if you very want to sell it?”. Strangely, he does not have a cb750 in his cache...... Mmmmm.
