I also pulled an original Owner’s Manual from under the seat, on my K7. Guess what? You can clearly see the bolt on bracket for the front, left side mount......

and the honda guide book shows the '77 with the bracket....and the '78 with the bung...

Will a K8 flat style motor mount bracket work in place of that special factory bracket on the K7 ?

Nope. My K8 has a welded lug on the frame there (identical to 1969-76 cb750K) and the single bolt just passes through the frame lug and the engine.......

John, does the K7 engine have more ease of removal and installation when sliding the engine out from the left side of the frame with that separate motor mount part removed, compared to the other model/year CB750's ?

I honestly can’t remember. But, looking at it it probably does. It still had to come out on the right side, but I think there was more “rocking room” than the others. I usually grind the flange off the one on the right side for a little extra space too.

no,...you have a 1978 model...isn't that what the "78" is that I see ?....
unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying....

we're not talking frame manufactured dates , we're talking model years.....
It is only the 1977 model 750's that have the bracket......you have a 1978 model....

but no help....

and, as a side note, I've always thought that the frame date is the date they manufactured the frame.....not the bike...and your pic supports that theory.......

but no help....

Yes. I was replying to John(reply #23) as we were discussing dates on early K8 frame possibilities.....

wonder what frame dates are on the '77's..

Do the frame dates start on the month of June( 6/76' ?) and end on the month of May( 5/77' ??) or possibly Stu would know for sure,as he was Parts Manager at the Honda dealership ?

I didn't learn the dates back then. I've gleaned a lot from the forums that I had missed in my early days......
Reading the charts, some of the years had different start dates, some years aren't listed....

I understand.
Stu,for instance on the i.d./V.I.N. badges on different models,I didn't see the large letters and numbers describing "1978 Model" until about the late 70's ?

Honda did a couple of one year things to frames. My '76 F frame has nuts welded to the neck right in front of the VIN plate that I assume were for a fairing that they planned to offer but didn't. The nuts are gone from the frame on my buddy's '77 F.

not to derail....it appears you are right...there's two "nubs" ?? showing on the '76f frame (bottom)and nothing for the '77F frame (top).....so it shows up on the parts page...
....but there is no bracket on the '77 K's parts page, just the bung...

My 77 has the two-sided mount also. it seems like it would be stronger.
I do that to the right rear upper mount on the performance bikes using a late and early mount with a late type bolt. Once I welded a spacer tube between two flat ones.
