Been here a few months and Introducing myself
« on: January 17, 2023, 07:21:49 AM »
Hey Guys, Great forum you have here.

I been here for a few months already, retired about a year ago and needed a project so I purchased a 1978 Honda CB750K from a friend's Dad.

My bike journey started in my teens and continued into my early 30's.  But at that time, was happily married and had a child, so supporting the family was the first priority and needed to move for work.  Still happily married to the same wonderful woman.

I started with Honda/Suzuki dirt bikes, then a Honda CB550, then jumped to a Kawasaki 900Z1 (1975).  Obviously I regretted selling that bike.  That is the bike that got me hooked forever.  I did some work on that bike (MTC forged 1015cc pistons, MTC street cams, carbs were bored to 29mm, head ported and polished, welded crank, and etc.).  That bike ran good, my best time at the local drag strip (1/4 mile) was 11:23, or something like that with a street tire.

Then life settled in, went back to school to get a degree, moved out of state for work, so needed to sell all bike related stuff.

Here we are 30 some years later and I got a wild hair to get another bike.  I am currently re-furbishing it back as close to stock as I can.  I have a thread on-going in the Project Shop sub-forum.

Thanks for the great people here who always help.

Dennis

Impressive time, the Z1 was the King of the Road back then.
I bought my Z1B nine years ago and will NEVER sell it...

Welcome to the forum Dennis.  :)
I like your Kawasaki and the work you had done to it.
I had a 77' KZ1000 Z!-R and had the stock carbs bored out,I sent them to a place called 'Maxi-Bore n' More',found their add in the back of a motorcycle mag. The bike ran a lot better after I installed them w/ a Kerker and had the cams degreed.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !
Do your BEST...nobody can take that away from you.
