Pretty hard to beat E-bay and BAT and looking at their completed auctions to get a real flavor. Other real world auctions like Mecum and what not can have good data. If those K1's are going for big money I may have to try and dump a few !!  :D
actually hope you are wrong about big money auction values...as soon as the mainstream accepts that, old bikes are no longer a fun hobby for the average guy.  Already been "big auction valued" out of the muscle car hobby, I would prefer to see these bikes remain reasonable and sane.
If it works good, it looks good...

I'm afraid to say that ship has sailed if prices for CB750s sold on BringaTrailer in December. are any indication: $11K (K6), $18K K5) and $12K (K3), plus fees. https://bringatrailer.com/search/?s=cb750
You only go around once in life so it might as well be on a motorcycle.

I agree 100%. For bikes that are restored or well kept Survivors, this is the new norm.
The sellers that amuse me are the ones that see these prices and think the bike they left in their backyard for 20 years is worth the same!

Many think a quick wash gets it in shape for the big money. As we all have experienced, just getting these road worthy and looking good can run costs way up. It's a labor of love, there really isn't much chance for profit, if that's what someone is after it's the rare find that will bring it. If paid myself for the hours and sold my K3 I'd be working almost for free.

So glad to hear it from someone else! If I paid myself $1/hour I might break even. Selling a bike for me is just the rational to start working on another one.

For best value, Motorcycles are just like classic cars. If you want a real deal, buy it completely restored and spend all you have for the best example available.

I've found the cost of the bike, parts and materials usually cant be done for under 4k for a road ready bike...one that might not even be that pretty. Ive only made money on two bikes, a K8 that was a quick flip, and the chopper which i made my buddy pay me an hourly rate. Everything else I have is probably in the 6-8k range not really including any of my labor.  Ill be lucky the recoup all investment.
