Jay Leno injured in MC accident
« on: January 27, 2023, 01:03:56 PM »
https://people.com/health/jay-leno-broke-several-bones-in-motorcycle-crash-after-garage-fire/

"Detailing that he "got knocked off" his motorcycle on Jan. 17, Leno told the outlet, "I've got a broken collarbone. I've got two broken ribs. I've got two cracked kneecaps."

"But I'm okay!" the star — who is returning to Las Vegas in March — added. "I'm okay, I'm working. I'm working this weekend." "

Poor guy is having string of bad luck.

His show with NBC is in jeopardy too I saw...

I was curious what he was riding and here is another article. Says he was test riding a 1940 Indian and smelled gas (sound familiar) and cut through a parking lot where he got clothes lined by an unmarked wire strung across. Knew a kid when I was younger that caught a wire across his neck at a gravel pit entrance on an XR75. His neck looked like his head was sewed on aka Frankenstein.  https://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/entertainment-columns/kats/jay-leno-breaks-bones-in-2nd-accident-after-announcing-vegas-return-2719088/

Back in the 70's a friend did a simular on his 305 scrambler on some barbed wire. It caught him on the chin and broke his jaw, but that was a lucky thing. If it hit him 2" lower it would have cut his throat! It happens quick.

Best of luck to you Jay, heal fast.

He can hopefully heal quickly and use his injuries as something good in his shows.
I like his car series on TV, really relaxing and fun.

Word is his TV show and contract with NBC was cancelled, but neither NBC nor Jay have addressed or spoken about the matter publically. The show is enjoyable but I haven't seen it much, especially since cancelling my TV service. I've watched several older shows that are up on YouTube, but nothing produced recently.
Jay is a very cool guy and personable and approachable.

I knew a kid that caught a wire too, but he wasnt so lucky, it was a fatality. Seem to remember there being a lawsuit against the church that put the wire up.

Jay seems to be on an accident spree, is his age catching up with him?

I think there was a lawsuit on my deal also. I do know I had sole permission to ride on his farm/gravel pit and lost that right because of that incident but still had permission to hunt on it which was a good thing for me back then when there was still pheasants. Old Mr Sumner and his wife were good folks to me even when my German Shorthair Pointer killed a couple of their chickens by mistake.

He says he never sent a penny of his TV money, he lives off of the standup act. I'm sure he did invest it though.

He has 180 cars worth an estimated $50 Million dollars! That's quite an investment.

I thought the cars should be worth more.
Cars shown on TV have been really rare models combined with other really expensive.
Name a car and he has one, right?

No - he apparently does not have a Ferrari.

"It appears that the absence of a Prancing Horse in his collection has nothing to do with the quality of those cars, but the real deal-breaker for Leno is the dealership experience".

Jay tried to keep this one quiet after the burn incident. He said you have too many accidents and you end up with a reputation like Harrison Ford crashing planes. He reportedly worked his gig at Vegas that weekend.

Harrison Ford had a Ryan STA that he crash on a golf course. I think he had some minor injuries. I don't recall but more than once mechanics have screwed up and heard of one plane of an owner crashed because they did an oil change and forgot to refill the oil. The crazy thing is preflight procedure has you checking the oil...so, clearly someone didn't preflight it...the owner/pilot.

Lots of times golf courses are adjacent to airports or on flight paths because it is safer use of the space than housing complexes...in case a plane has an emergency they may have a chance with those spaces.

I did not know that he had pilot licence.
Missed to refill oil a real miss.
If easy to check, I should have a look before starting it.
Oil pressure gauge must be there too, if not install one.

Harrison has also participated in rescues.

Jay is like a typical working man in the regard that he feels like showing up to work is more important than his personal pain. The difference is, most of us need to pay the house payment, feed the kids and get a new part for the SOHC4.

Had a dog pull its chain tight on me while messing with my kids go-kart years ago. Dog obviously wasn't impressed with my driving technique and pulled his chain tight right as I was approaching to go over the chain. Good thing it was a small dog or it would've taken my head off, still messed me and the go-kart up. It's hard to explain the feeling that comes over you when you don't have enough time to react and all you can do is say "this is gonna hurt". Come to think of it, the same exact feeling and thought came over me last summer when the lawn mower pulled out in front of my cb400. Just trust me on this, it's a really sh**ty feeling. :)
