I've been Googling a lot lately trying to find travelogues of people who have gone on long road trips with their SOHC Honda's, but examples have been really scarce. So it seems that either people aren't trusting their thirty-year-old machines to reliably get very far, or they just don't buy these old bikes for touring.
So I have conspicuously bought my '78 CB550 with the intent of going on at least one long trip a year. I live in Toronto, and am considering riding to Newfoundland, Florida, British Columbia, California, or Alaska this year.
However, I would love to hear about others who have made long trips on their bikes and how they went. It would just be reassuring to know that I am trying something not too unwise.

http://www.hondarestoration.com/stories.htmI found the log pretty interesting. Of note is the fact that his bike was pretty much stock and that he didn't even have a windshield! The reliability of the bike was pretty impressive too.
