Cb550k carb linkage rubber bits
« on: February 15, 2023, 12:02:51 PM »
I'm restoring a 550, 069a carbs, and on the linkage there are/were rubber plates with two holes that slid over the pivot ball joints. I tore them, since i'm rebuilding and cleaning everything.

What purpose do these serve? I was thinking of using rubber sheet to replace them if they're needed, since I can't find any info on them.

I'll send better pics, but it's the little black part on top of my middle finger.

I think they are debris protectors where the ball joint goes into the holes.
I can't remember where I saw it, either here or on another site replacements for those rubber plastics.
ill see if I can find out unless someone else chimes in.

I remember searching for these a few years back when I rebuilt the carbs on my 550 and I don't ever remember finding a replacement. Images from cmsnl.com. They don't sell it as a separate part.

that is why it stood out to me when I saw it.
I remember when I was searching for the 500/550 metal stay for the air filter and found it on the french ebay.

I think they were being 3d printed i think.

It would be cool if someone would make those.
Back then I did find someone was making these parts, laser cutting them I think, I bought some then because they're often broken.

Just measure the thickness of an old original one and then make them yourself out of redundant feeler gauges that are equally thick.

i aint had them on mine for years, not exactly a precision seal by any means, probably stop large chunks, you could fashion something if you wanted from an old inner tube?these aint ridden like a dirt bike would be so im guessing not deadly important?even the genuine ones dont look to seal fully?dont sweat it!
