1972 honda cb500 K clutch adjuster mechanism
« on: February 10, 2023, 03:44:54 PM »
Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and this is my first post or question shall I say.
I have  a clutch adjuster mechanism that need replacement and I can not locate a replacement part. I tried OEM (honda that is) and other suppliers with no success.
I live in Canada and would greatly appreciate if someone can direct me to where I can buy those parts [/b]particularly the item 22841-266-000 which I[/b] believe to be the weakest link (aluminum running against a steel thread lifter).
I wonder also if there would be another mechanism that could be fitted to replace the original one which seems to be a weak link.
Looking forward to your reply or advice. Thanks

I wouldn't call a part that gives up after 51 years of service a weak link, when you replace it with a new one and it holds on another 50 years you probably won't be there to see it fail again ;)

Did you search the partnumber with Google? I got several hits, of which partzilla.com is in your neck of the woods somewhat?

Ive been looking for one for over a year, every single used cover I find is either missing it or its already broken...Your best bet is finding a used cover I think.

Look on Dave Silvers web site, im sure he sells them, not cheap though.
Is the pushrod in one piece like it should be? Common for it to be broken by loose chain

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

They did, but there are subtle differences

I have had a few through my hands but not sure what they were off as they arrived in "job lots" of parts, what i noticed was
Different cable attachments to arm, different length of arm, different angle attachment of arm to screw, different lengths of ally part.
It is probable that all the bits would work with a different feel and pull at the handlebar but i have no definite answer to that

Welcome aboard Chopper

I just looked up the number on ebay and there is one(NOS) in the states in North Carolina, I couldn't copy a link to share it so you'll have to look up the number on ebay(I just pasted the number in the ebay search bar with the word honda after the number.
I didn't see any listed in Canada in the ebay search.
I don't know of any NOS part sellers in Canada at this point.

I just looked up the number at CMSL and David Silver Spares and Honda Restoration for NOS part number and they are all out of stock at this time, though you can get on the waiting list at CMSL and DSS.

Good hunting to you in your search.

Thank you all for the follow up and feed back. That is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Robvangulik and Newday 777 for taking the time to provide the Links for the parts.
I did not understand the Suzuki part list though. Are they similar compatible parts that would fit the Honda CB 500 k ?
I am still in the learning curve for the forum features
Again a big thumb up to you all for your help and to the Forum.
