Just wondering this since i seen at least one other post about taking the first ride for the season. Got home from work tonight and after hearing bikes all freakin day at work i dug out my VF and took it for a run for about an hour. Now as said how many of us have ventured out onto the roads now that the snow is starting to disappear?

I've been out about 8 times so far. Weathers been screwy here lately. In the high 60s one day and down near freezing the next.
Its only gonna get better, plus with the time changing tonight we'll have more riding time. I dont like to ride after dark as much as I can help it........hitting the 3 deer with my car last year still has me gunshy about riding the bike after dark out here in the sticks.

Went out for about 40 miles today. It was the first real ride since 1/1.

My riding season spans 12 months here.  Don't have a definition for beginning or end of.  Our roads don't really ice up here unless you head up into the mountains.  But, I can ride hundreds of miles without encountering mountains.  We're at about 100-300 Ft above sea level. Though, there are a few months where the rain makes it less than ideal for riding.

I can sympathize with those that have to put their bikes up in the winter.  I lived in southcentral Alaska for many years, and usually had to call it quits by mid to late November until the end of March or beginning of April.  Even to do that much I had to push the seasons.  I got caught out many times riding home in snowstorms.  I am in southern Idaho now, so can ride every month of the year.  We have a real winter here, but it is fairly dry, so if the roads are clear, I ride.  I like it better the way it is now, but I miss the feeling you get when you take that first ride after a long winter.

I took the 750 ou today for about an hour.
Me and some buddies are actually going for a "ride" tomorrow (sunday) to put some real miles on our scoots.
Hope those HD boys can keep up  ;D

my first ride was a few weeks ago but, just broke out the 350f this past week  ;D

we had a wrenching day at gordon's yesterday and we synched my carbs, set the timing and gapped the points.

elizabeth and i ended up spending the night there as it started raining before we could head back out... just arrived back home this morning.  we took off from his house at about 7am.  then, got about 3 blocks to denny's before the fog was so thick it was collecting on our visors so much that we could not ride!  we waited out the fog and breakfast'd then had a nice ride home.

one of my floats decided to stick and i noticed it when we stopped at denny's (actually, elizabeth saw the fuel pouring out of the bottom of the bike)  i tapped on the bowl w/ no luck.  filled the tank to the top w/ gas and said "i'll just ride it"... it was unstuck when we got home  ;D

Mr Wood, when in doubt, sit on your hands.  I'm on my 3rd and last 400. Don't learn the hard way like I did.

heffay, I use a pry bar and claw hammer on #3.  Seems to work and it gets out the pent up aggression.

Speaking of which, I've finally been taking the 400 out on little sprints.  It's still not esthetically perfecto, but it runs great.  BUT
I took out the W for a longer ride today.  Some Duc riders told me the mountains were clear so I went up there to Hot Springs and back along the river. Over Dogget Mountain it's mostly first gear and a little second. Tight stuff.  Pretty, and the leaves are still gone so you can see through the turns. The road along the river is all sweepers from left to right and left.  Sort of a waltz. Great loop.  Still getting used to that bike after my little get-off.  Traffic was light and after a while I wasn't fighting the turns anymore.  Feels good.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Just got in from a few hour ride into the city.
Streets were dry, air temp was around 50 or so, ladies were walking around with their
coats tied around their waste, etc..

It was a good day... ;D

I ride year 'round for the most part.  This Winter was the longest I went without riding one of my bikes due to the excessive amounts of snow we had.  There was the 2 feet we got the week before Christmas, and then it just kept snowing every few days for the next several weeks.  My street and alley finally thawed out a couple of weeks ago.  I think I went about 8 weeks without riding. :'(

Went back out for nearly 4 hours combined today before and after work and decided to venture out onto the highway and get used to it out there given i had not gotten much time to get accustomed to the bike last fall. In the process of coming back into the city i nearly done a ton. (got it up to about 95 mph then backed out of it because the wind still has some bite at those speeds lol)

Took my first ride since the second week of January today.  It was just a quickie to the D.Q., but tomorrow it will be over 80 miles to both jobs and back, I can't wait!
