They are restrictors to stop the needles from bouncing. You just roll the round "wheels" up until the needles stop bouncing or at least slow them down.  Cliff.

Do you do that with them all tied to one carb first?

No, but I suppose that would make sure each gauge is like the other. I use a bank of gauges like I do for my750's. It seems to work well and gives a nice visual. The red things are restrictors to stop the needles from twitching wildly. Cliff.

Cliff….. I have a plastic Tee with multiple outlets. My old Motion Pro instructions insist that Step 1. is to tie all 4 gauges to ONE port first (using the tee). Adjust those clamps so all four gauges read the same. Then you know you are getting a truly even reading when you go across all four ports. Mine seems to need initial adjustment every time I use them.
     Assuming the gauges are identical and equally calibrated, no synchronization should be required. I’d be interested to hear what you see if you test them all on the same cylinder.
