I wanted to get these just right, for Sandcast engine #582. Found the “right guy” and they are PERFECT. Checkout “before” and “after” photos. Yahoo!

Nice job indeed. Do you know how it was done?

All the bottom ones were bent and cracked at the base, inside. Took them all off, straightened, welded, built up, ground and shaped. A few, with small dings, he built up with weld, and reshaped. Finally, with several small air tools he built for refinishing old Indian blocks and heads, he finished the surfaces to perfection...... Very impressive, invisible repair

Well that job certainly deserved a professional repair and the results speak for themselves. :)

The fellow that did these repairs is confident he can also weld on all the tabs and bits I need to put my Rickman CR frame back in Road (vs.Race) trim. Will be visiting him with that in tow soon!

Boy, that is some nice work!
I'm facing a set of sandcast cylinders that are missing a couple of fins all the way down to the liner. I don't know if I'm going to be able to get this one repaired/rebuilt by my usual guy, as he normally weld-builds them up on the old broken fin ends - but, there aren't any. Do you think he might be interested in attempting something like this? I'll have the cylinders in a day or two for pix.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

He’s busy and a bit reclusive, so not sure. Send me photos and I will ask? I’ll PM my email address.

PM sent.

I just had my Acty seats recovered on Oahu by a guy named Al in a very small upholstery shop.
What a nice guy and what a great job at a reasonable price for here. We were over there for some stuff and I went in to speak with him. Small shop, younger workers, great attitude, I love finding these folks.

If you can’t find anyone to do it you might try saints engine and machine. Joe does some pretty expressive machine/restoration work when it comes to old motorbikes. He also has a great title service for anyone with an old bike looking for a title.
