You are correct HondaMan

I figure I’d set my idle tomorrow once I got some gauges hooked up to them.

Also, much approached back story.

I did have issues with fouling plugs at idle.

Your tip about switching to regular grande fuel from premium helped with that as well. My idle at the time was probably about 1100-1200 so that could have been contributing as well.

By chance: have you also opened up the emulsifier holes in the mainjet's tube? They were too small in the K0 bikes (all of them) at 0.0325" (often quoted as .033") and the recommended size was 0.035" in 1971. By the 1980s we started opening them to 0.0375" or even 0.039". The latter is where I have mine now, and it really perked up the in-town throttle response and saved me spark plugs. Going more, past 0.040", doesn't seem to further change things. And, they can be easily soldered shut again if you want to start over! :D

I’ll be interested to see how far off they are to start. You will be delighted with the improvement a proper sync makes......

Good to know about soldering emulsion holes.
I drilled mine per Mark's book

I can only assume mine have not been drilled (I know I didn’t drill em).

I will pull em and check their size.

I should be able to get gauges hooked up today so I’ll report back with my finding  I’ll make note of how far off I am from starting.

Got em on gauges and all synched up. Pic below shows where they started at idle with the screws preset to the “t” mark. Not too far off.

Couldn’t get an good idle below 1100. Wanted to stumble and die.

Pulled an emulsion tube and it has not been drilled.

Guess that will be my next project.

Throttle was very responsive and returned to idle with no hang up.

Havnt got to ride it yet but it seems like I’m back on track.

Good to hear you seem to have found the culprit.
It can be very frustrating at times but when issue is found, it seems to make sense then.
