Honda CMX1100 REBEL 1100 ?
« on: January 31, 2023, 07:41:02 AM »
Anyone has experience of this bike?

I have recently found a bike that made me interested.
The stance look nice.

Hopefully a comfortable ride on that one. The bags look good on it and needed for daily use.

I found it in a brown color that look very nice wich fired ME up together with springlike sunshine ! ;D
I think I have to see one for real.
Hopefully possible to get one WITH clutch in that color.

Update engine with filter and Power Commander.
This video look interesting. A little bit too much details and fast but good anyway.

Then the touring kit if fairing can be in same brown metallic.  Insect catcher for easier clean.

Replace exhaust, a shorter, stock a boat anchor/canoe.
Coffman's look tough. Bags need a lower pipe, maybe passenger  too.

I watched a few videos on that a while ago, too much technology to deal with, rider modes and traction settings. Originally I'd read that one cylinder was designed more for low end power and the other for higher end power, that sounds a bit stupid but I guess they work together.

More power needed for traction settings ;D

Find out when passing a slow going bus that the traction setting is set to "Snail" can be dangerous when quick acceleration is a must.

Otherwise cool looking for that price.
I have seen other bikes for double the money and more.

I have to visit a shop and test if my but will like it ;)

For me the looks aren't too bad but I'm not a fan of mid or forward controls. It locks you into position with your weight on your tailbone and it's hard to pull your butt off the seat for the big bumps/rail crossing/ potholes and such.
I think it would be great for commuting if it's not too far. What's the range of it since the gas tank looks a bit small?

Honda taking another pot shot at harleys "sport glide" model

Honda tried hard to get people to buy these and customize them like they would a hog.  Don't think it ever came to fruition for them.

Also, Coffman shortys are gawd awful.

It locks you into position with your weight on your tailbone and it's hard to pull your butt off the seat for the big bumps/rail crossing/ potholes and such.
That is an important detail. I know how it feels to hit a pothole without standing up on foot pegs in time.
My back will get a painful crushing feeling.

I have had thoughts about the other bikes with similar design, how comfy they are sitting with legs forward.

This one a low priced bike in comparizon. Not that high insurance either for a new bike.
I have no need to ride that fast. It is too fast when I let the needle pass 200 kmh on my blue just for testing it.

Fun roads have no need for that speed.
160kmh is a common max speed for a short while when riding. We have cops here too.

But when bike is limited to max 160 something kmh might feel a little low. ;)

EDIT:
There are several Youtube videos comparing the Rebel 1100 with Indians and Harleys.

Here one where the rider position is shown. It look like no problem to stand up on foot pegs if a pot hole will be seen in time heading the wheels.

I guess I have started to like this design after a few visits at an Indian, Harley and Victory reseller.

Rebel, Mk 9?
Still a Rebel.

Anyone here remember the DOHC with the cams that changed duration with oil pressure at 5500 RPM? It came out, became impossible to ride in the rain (around here) for serious traction issues at 5550 RPM in the rain, and then sorta just went away...I don't even remember the model(?).
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

I have found out why newer bikes exhaust mufflers are big as garbage cans.
