Mikuni RS34 Float Bowl Vent Tube
« on: February 23, 2023, 04:07:21 PM »
Can I leave the carb tubeless or would it be detrimental to the performance of the carb? There's a total of 8, two on either side of each carb.
Thankful for everyone on this forum. Grateful to continue to learn so much.

The tubes, most likely vent tubes are more visible here
https://www.officine08.com/p71519_carburetor-mikuni-rs-34-kit.html
Each carb has 1.
My Mikuni TMR32 have 2 T-tubes for 1-2, 3-4.

I notified that very late. Added hoses to stop dirt enter the carbs. Around 400 mm long each, in a wide bow backwards, up  forwards under the tank. Hoses strapped to frame enough to keep them there intact.
I use transparent vinyle hose I found in a cheap auto parts shop.

I'm trying to figure out if those vents are pulling atmospheric pressure IN to the carb or if those are vents for overfill.

If they're for air, I'm not going to bother with putting hoses on.

The RS 34's have 2 bowl vent spigots on each carb. I joined each pair with a tee on all four carbs and ran the 4 lines down the right side with the overflow lines. Then I used a 1/8" gasket hole punch on some 5/8" air filter foam to make little plugs that breathe and rolled them between my thumb and finger to slip them into the bottom of each line to keep the dirt out. I've done two bikes this way and it works fine.
I had run the vent lines up under the tank at first but it is seems like you get a bit of fuel slosh when you ride hard and fuel collected in the low points in the vent lines so I changed them and no more problem.
