CB550 Frame number

Hi, I have what I think is a 1977 CB550 k3 frame. However my frame number is CB550K-20xxxxx
My question is why does my frame number have a "K" after the 550.
According to an old thread http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=146390.0 on this forum it shouldn't have a "K" after the 550
It should read "CB550-20xxxxx"
I know the Super Sports had an "F" after the 550 but I don't think the K models should.
My bike would be a general export KPH bike.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Yes, that is correct for your model year. I also have a bike built on a 77 K3 frame and the VIN starts CB550K-201****. Your VIN is correct.

Edit.... Forgot to say you need to stop looking at USA VIN numbers, they do not compare with the rest of us in other world markets 😊😊😊 Mine is a UK model.

As with most things printed about Hondas, there are caveats but I've found it quite useful at times. Not sure how it ties in with USA models though.
