Critical grounding points on powdercoated frame
« on: March 07, 2023, 12:31:10 PM »
Just Got my 1977 CB500k back from powdercoat. Looks great in gloss, but where should i pay attention to remove coating to ensure good ground connections? Should i apply dielectric grease to these contact points to hinder corrosion or just leave them exposed?

Nothin' like fresh powder!  The most important area is where your ground cable connects.  A Dremel tool makes easy work of removing the powder.

Coil bracket mounting bolts [...]
It's not the first I time I read this, but I can have perfect sparks without ground. Another thing is to fasten the bolts securely. If they're just a bit loose, you'll see an interesting phenomenon: the coil will move about vehemently. Tells you something about the magnetic energy in there.
