I think I've mentioned this before in another post, but my nephew was killed on a bike in 1990. My sister lives close to me, and I felt bad about riding the bike around her. Also the traffic in the Maryland suburbs of DC had gotten progressively worse, so I pretty much parked it in '90. I mentioned the bike to a co-worker, and he was interested in buying and restoring it (as he had done a Ducati), so I sold it in '99. He fixed the front brake, replaced the tires, and then let it sit. I kept asking him how the restoration was coming, but he seemed to be loosing interest. He retired in '03, and moved out of state, but sold it back to me (for less than I sold it to him) before he left. The tank was really cruddy, and the carbs so gummed up the throttle wouldn't even move. I POR-15'ed the tank, rebuilt the carbs, put new Mac 4-into-2 exhaust on it, but it still ran rough. I hate to admit it, but I took it to a Honda shop to have the carbs sync'ed, since I don't have the equipment or the talent. When I got it back, it was like old times again - runs like a top. I have a Maryland 'Historic Vehicle' tag on it (cheaper and no inspection) which allows me to use a vintage (1970) tag on it, which has restricted usage - pretty much no daily commuting. I also retired a few years back, and I'm only doing part-time work, so I can ride the bike at my leisure.
Well, that's it in a large nutshell, probably more than you wanted to know.
